STUDIES UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1964,Beijing International Studies University (BISU)
is a nationwide renowned key comprehensive university of higher
education and has developed into a multi-disciplinary university
incorporating liberal arts, management, economics and law, with
the specialties of foreign languages and tourism as its most
distinguishing feature. Selecting students nationwide, the
university takes it as its main task to train professionals
proficient in foreign languages, tourism, economics, trade and
finance, for the national economic construction and social
advance.
Besides the modern languages departments that teach English,
Japanese, German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese,
Arabic, Korean, the university offers courses in a multiple of
schools. They are The School of Interpretation and Translation,
The School of Tourism Management, The School of International
Economics and Trade, The School of International Communication,
The School of Law and Politics, The School of International
Cultural Exchange, The School of Continuing Education, The
School of International Education and The Academy of Tourism
Development. And also the university has Institute for
Transcultural Studies and Foreign Linguistics and Applied
Linguistics Institute. The university offers 24 specialties
providing undergraduate programs. They are English, Japanese,
Russian, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Korean,
Portuguese, Translation and Interpretation, Tourism Management,
Accounting Management, Marketing, Event Economy and Management,
International Economics and Trade, International Culture Trade,
Finance, Chinese Language and Literature, Journalism, Teaching
Chinese as a Foreign Language, International Politics, Science
of Law, and the Chinese Language (for international students).
There are 13 specialties offering postgraduate programs, namely,
English, Japanese, Russian, German, French, Arabic, Asian and
African Languages (only Korean language available now), Foreign
Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Tourism Management,
Corporate Management, International Trade, Aesthetics,
Contrastive Literature and World Literature. Currently the
university has an enrollment of more than 10,000 Chinese and
1000 plus international students including postgraduate,
undergraduate and language students.
The university enjoys an environmentally good campus, and it
is conveniently located in Chaoyang District of Beijing,
adjoining the famous Beijing CBD (Central Business District).

Chinese-Language student
program (above one semester): Chinese
The School of International Cultural Exchange of Beijing
International Studies University is mainly responsible for
Chinese courses teaching. It is a special school that
enrolls and teaches foreign students. The School of
International Cultural Exchange provides the specialty of
Chinese (including tourism direction, finance direction and
education direction) for undergraduate program and also
Chinese language learner programs. The School is among the
first batch of organizations that are authorized to hold the
HSK Exam in Beijing. The HSK Exam is held three times
annually in May, July and December.

Short-term program
(under a semester): based on the different demands of
learners, Chinese Language courses can be arranged on
different dates including the summer vacation.

Chinese/English Bilingual
Program (long term or short term): Chinese Politics,
China’s Economy, Foreign Trade and Investment in China,
Chinese History and Society, Traditions of Chinese Culture,
Tourism in China.
Note: only group application (at least 10 students) is
accepted.

2. Matriculation:
Upon verification, Beijing International Studies University will
send out “Visa Application Form for Study in China” (JW202) and
“University Admission Notice” to the accepted students before
January 31(spring) or July 31(autumn). Holders of the
above-mentioned two documents and health examination certificate
are supposed to apply for the Students Visa (X) or Visit Visa
(F) at the nearest Chinese embassy or Chinese consulate.
3. Health Examination
The foreign students who will study over half a year should go
through health examination before entering into China and submit
standard health examination forms to the university (available
at the embassy or the consulate), inclusive of original blood
test report, to be checked by Beijing Health Center to make sure
all the items of the forms are complete, otherwise the students
will take medical examination again at their own expense at
Beijing Health Center. The students will pay 60RMB for
inspection fee if all the items are complete. The students who
applied for Students visa, but do not take physical examination
prior to entering into China must take health examinations at
Beijing Health Center.
4. Registration
Applicants are supposed to hold the original documents of “Visa
Application Form for Study in China” (JW202) and “University
Admission Notice” and health examination certificate and 8
passport-size photos to go to Beijing International Studies
University for registration formalities on the prescribed date.
Applicants who failed to achieve it within 10 days will be
disqualified the status.
5. Insurance
According to the relevant rules of Chinese government,
international students are supposed to buy medical insurance
when they stay in China. Therefore, Accident Insurance and
Hospitalization Insurance are required to be bought upon
registration at their own expense of 300 RMB half a year and 600
RMB per year.

1. Public facilities of kitchen and
laundry are shared with other foreign students.
2. For Dorm No.2 Unit C, washroom with shower (24 hours hot

Notes
- The deposit of RMB500 shall be paid upon check-in at
Foreign Students Dormitory. The deposit will be refunded
when the student checks out if the property is not damaged.
- All the above-mentioned information is only supposed to
reference, the final decision shall be subject to
university’s arrangement.
- If the airport collection service is expected, flight
details should be provided to the university in advance and
pick-up service charge is RMB 200 per person. 100-degree
electricity quotas will be provided to each room per month.
The surplus part will be self-supported.

Notes

Tuition and boarding fees are
due at registration. Students who don't pay within l0 days
after registration without special excuses will pay 5%
overdue fine.

When new students enroll, the
university may go through the Residence Permit application
formalities on them behalves, and the service fee and visa
fee should be paid at students own expense.

The application fee is
nonrefundable. Tuition and accommodation fees are also
nonrefundable unless the University is held accountable for
the withdrawal.
